HOWTO: Adjust the night vision settings in your Y-cam Black

Y-cam Black LEDsOne of the key features of the Y-cam Black is its night vision mode which, with its 30 built-in infrared lights, allows you to see live video even in complete darkness!

Did you know that it’s possible to have your camera in night vision mode all day long regardless of the light conditions?

This short guide will show you how to adjust the night vision settings in your camera and help you get the most when viewing in the dark.

This guide is suitable for the following cameras:

Y-cam Black

We will assume your Y-cam Black is fully configured and you can log in and access the settings pages before we start.

HOWTO:

To access the night vision settings log in to your camera and from the menu on the right hand side of the screen select the option “Night Vision Setup”. You will be presented by the following screen of options:

Infrared LED control:

[auto]: When auto is selected the camera will automatically turn on the infrared LEDs when the light level in the room drops to a level where there isn’t enough light to produce a good quality image.

[on]: Forces the LEDs to remain on and produces black and white video at all times
[off]: Forces the LEDs to remain off regardless of the lighting condition

Black and white mode:

[auto]: The camera will change from color to black and white when the infrared LEDs are activated

[on]: Forces the camera to display only black and white video

[off]: Forces the camera to display only color video even if the infrared LEDs are on

Moonlight mode:

Moonlight mode uses tricks such superimposing frames to make the image brighter in periods of low light without using infrared illumination. You won’t get as good an image in very dark conditions but it may be useful in some applications.

How far does the infrared LEDs illuminate?
The reach of the infrared illumination in the Y-cam Black is about 12 meters which should be enough to illuminate an average sized room.
