Panasonic WV-NP304 - Overview

The Panasonic WV-NP304 network camera is a professional 1.3 megapixel static IP camera suitable for high-end security installations and features automatic day/night switching, bi-directional audio and IEEE802.3af Power over Ethernet compliant.

Panasonic’s i-Pro range of cameras is designed for security applications in mind and the WV-NP304 is no different. With its 1.3 megapixel progressive scan CCD imaging sensor the images produced are of the highest quality. Images are delivered at a maximum resolution of 1280x960 pixels and are clear and detailed with less motion blur/tearing, even when the subject is moving. The camera can also deliver up to 30 frames per second live video for smooth, TV-like quality. Advanced image settings such as electronic sensitivity enhancement, adaptive black stretch (ABS) and scalable light control modes can further improve image quality, especially in environments with high contrast lighting.

Automatic day/night switching provides an infrared sensitive black and white night vision mode. Although the camera does not have a switchable infrared-cut filter, the camera can see in complete darkness (0 lux) when used with additional infrared lighting (not supplied). The camera will automatically switch between color day viewing and night viewing depending on the surrounding light levels.

Bi-directional audio not only allows the camera viewer to see and listen-in on sounds at the camera’s location but also talk-back directly to people in the area (external speakers required, not supplied). Support for IEEE802.3af Power over Ethernet makes installation quick, easy and cost-effective as the camera can be powered using the same standard Ethernet cable which supplies the data connection. Combined with an analog video output and focus assist tool; installation should be straightforward and trouble-free. Advanced features include privacy zone masking, text overlay tools and powerful alarm management features including image transfer to FTP or email based on alarm triggers such as motion detection or external sensor input.

Images can also be stored on the camera directly using an SD memory card. This provides an on-camera recording option without the need for the camera to be connected to a network or for backup of recordings in the event of a network failure. Like all IP cameras offered on www.networkwebcams.com, the Panasonic WV-NP304 has a built-in web server and can be viewed over a Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) or via the Internet as a streaming IP webcam.
