QNAP VioStor VS-8040 Pro 40-channel Network Video Recorder with eight drive bays and up to 16TB storage

Overview of QNAP VioStor VS-8040 Pro

The QNAP VioStor VS-8040 is a highly robust, centralized recording platform which can record video footage from up to 40 IP cameras from multiple manufacturers. The system offers eight hot-swappable drive bays which can provide a combined storage capacity of 16TB as well as RAID hard drive support which offers data redundancy in case of hardware failure.

Recordings can be made based on schedule, alarm or motion detection and can be accessed via web interface, FTP client or Network neighborhood. Recorded footage can be backed up to external USB drive or to local network attached storage servers. Advanced RAID features also allow you to alter hard drive sizes or RAID configurations without losing data or powering down the system.

The VS-8040 is very easy to set up, either from the PC-based software or from the built-in LCD screen, and only requires six steps to complete. The camera search feature can also scan the local network and automatically install any compatible cameras. The VS-8040 is also cheaper to run than a PC-based recording system, requiring only 81W of power to function.
